Century Matchless Deluxe Stainless Steel 2-Burner Stove

Best camping stove for families

Good value for campground use
Windscreens on three sides
Lightweight (12.5 pounds)
Easy to clean

Mixed reliability on self-ignition
Better on high than low
Mixed reviews for build quality

The best plug for the Century Matchless camping stove is in a review at Camping Life Magazine, and we found user ratings for the Century camping stove scattered at several websites, including REI.com and Epinions.com.

The Century Matchless Deluxe stove is made of rustproof stainless steel and aluminum. The foldout windscreens shield the cooking area, and the stove uses standard one-liter bottles of propane fuel (you can use a full-size tank with an adapter). The two burners are set further apart than on most competing camping stoves, so it's easier to use a large pan or griddle. You can find much fancier camp stoves, but most reviewers say the Century Matchless is a good value. We did read a few reports that the push-button ignition can be finicky. If you don't need a family stove, the JetBoil PCS (*est. $80) gets the best reviews as a small camping stove, but it's meant for boiling rather than cooking.
